Hi everyone, Red here, I hope you all had a great weekend, with lots of awesome and interesting finds! We weren't able to detect this weekend, Chug has tendonitis in his arm really bad, he's missed a few days of work, and is going through dirt and sand withdrawals!
Since we couldn't play, Chug decided we should check out a place we've never been to, he's lived here most of his life, 25 years for me! Anyway, the sun was warm, and it was such a gorgeous day, we just had to get out of the house for a bit, otherwise we wouldn't be able to quite climbing the walls!
We finally went to the fort! It was so awesome, and even though we can't detect there, we still had fun! I took lots of pictures, and gained even more respect for our ancestors and how they lived.
even though we couldn't bring the kids,( our machines) we still found some really cool stuff, our first find was tucked into the leaves, I found 2 ghosts, I couldn't believe it, another rock! we stopped to read this, and that's when Chug found the next one! we're not quite sure what this one is, Chug thinks it might be a pumpkin. can you imagine living and raising a family in a home like this? this little rock was almost missed, we both saw this one at the same time! And another rock, at this rate, we'll have a really cool rock garden, remember back in the day when people paid money for pet rocks? Now we are finding them, for free, in parks. All the barracks are being renovated, along with other buildings.
We went to one other place I've always wanted to go, I can't stop smiling, there are so many interesting and awesome history of Vancouver. I want to go back here one day when its open, This house is amazing, the way the wood was worked, the dovetails, and chinking, so much work involved, and time. some of these stones are huge, I love how they fit together! this is Covington house, it was built in 1848, if I remember right. I know I've posted lots of pictures, this weekend wasn't so much the finds, though it was a blast finding rocks in unusual places. Today was just one of those days when life is good, the fall colors get more beautiful every year, I don't know how to explain it, except I'll remember this weekend always. Life ain't always beautiful, but its a beautiful ride.
Remember the owl Chug found? Well, he has a name, and a new home, Chug named him Hootie hoo, and he loves his new home, I gotta do something with the jewelry we find. I love wearing a piece I've made, it gets me talking about our finds, we have so many people who ask what kind of stuff we find, working them into jewelry or plants with decorations from stuff we find, makes for interesting stories and my designs are one of a kind, I never repeat a design, we get some lively conversations, did you know I'm really shy? I tell you what, people see you with your machine and we are constantly asked if we found any treasures, my answer is always time with my husband and best friend, and enjoying time away from kids, jobs, the idiots, you know what I mean, the ones that think we are stupid for "wasting" our time digging, when we could make more at a street corner, yes I heard that one....I have red hair, green eyes and I'm left handed and Irish, I can still get my point across while still being a "proper" lady One person one day asked Chug what he was looking for, he replied "Waldo"
Time to get some rest, I've been working on a new piece, but its driving me batty! Take care everyone, and stay safe, HH! Red[SUB][SUP]
