Hi, I'm thinking of getting the Bounty Hunter QSIGWP Quick Silver w/ PinPointer (Amazon.com : Bounty Hunter QSIGWP Quick Silver Metal Detector with Pin Pointer : Hobbyist Metal Detectors : Patio, Lawn & Garden) and I was hoping to get some Info/Input tonight so I can Order it.

I'm a Beginner and I wanted something Cheapish but still decent to learn on. If anyone has used it can you give me your Input on it and Answer the Questions below?

I read the Coil is Waterproof, Is that Freshwater only or Salt also?

Can I get it Close to Saltwater like on the Beach/River?

Is it easy to use for the most part?

Thank you for any Help!!!!! (Also Sorry if this is in the wrong Area)

There's a Bounty Hunter forum here. You can ask the mods to move it there if you'd like. Otherwise, it's probably fine where it's at.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll get some feedback! Maybe do a search in the "Search" input block with the term defined as "Quick Silver", with the quote marks - supposed to narrow the search, but quite a few times unreliable.

You asked some good valid questions, but me? I'd give it a couple or more days for responses instead of jumping the gun tomorrow.

The detector is better that the one I began with 2 years ago. The coil is waterproof, and being that it has 3 tones is another plus. If you want to hunt saltwater beaches, you will have to stay in the dry sand. I really doubt if it will work in salt water. Fresh water is a different story though. I do have a pin pointer like the one you are getting. I never use it since it only has about a 1/2" to 3/4" range. It's better than nothing I guess. You should get a pair of headphones though. Using headphones uses less power than running the speaker on the detector. You can also hear the nuances of the sounds the detector is making when you use headphones.
