Ok I just got this in today... I was Very Excited to finally get it in and took that puppy out for a spin around the yard...

I have not used a MD in many many years and I am by no way considered an good source of info on MD'ing..

I was rather disappointed at the feel of the VLF very plasticky feel too it (it is plastic but I think you know what I mean)
I was able to find several things around the yard I have some real gold bullion and silver and I ran some tests on it just to see how it reacts and well it is very basic to say the least...
has 2 knobs
1. Power/strength of the beep
2. Trash control.. (did not see a great deal of control to say the least)

Mind you I spent less then 90.00 on this thing shipped and well I think I will be handing it off to my kids pretty soon as they REALLY had a blast MD'ing for the first time.

I really could not figure out how to pinpoint a specific area on where exaclty to dig once it did beep... I would say the readings were getting read but I think it's too broad to pinpoint a particular area and start digging in that area.. I dunno I am still testing this unit and I think it would make a nice kids MD But I think I am getting more spoiled as the more reasearch I do the more power I want in the MD..

I was able to find a brass hose nozzle that my son lost last year (I was pretty happy about that honestly!) so.... till I update this thread I wont even give this MD a ratng yet...

I did find some pennies and a bunch of screws and bolts too.. and my veruy first fine with it was a bottle cap :)

Sounds like you had fun and that's what it's all about. You will probably want to upgrade and hand the VLF down to the kids.As for pinpointing, try X'ing your target to find the centerpoint of the signal.Sweep the target from different angles. If your having fun with this unit then you will want a better one soon i'm sure. You might not get a lot of replies on this cause a lot of the diehards won't even respond to someone that uses a BH machine.I have a couple and they're worth the money that I paid for them. One day maybe i'll be able to afford thousand dollar machine, until then i'll make due with what I got.Good luck and H.H.

Well this goes to show you... you get what you pay for... this MD has already died on me... after 4 uses...

I have contacted the seller and HOPEFULLY they are very responsive on this problem I have even offered to upgrade to the Garrett 250 ... this VLF is not for anyone who is serious about doing this and getting results..

The Bounty Hunter lower end machines do have some problems. However, the higher end machines are usually pretty reliable. I can't fault ACE 250 even though I don't use it, because I am a Garrett's fan. I use the Master Hunter CX Plus and love it.

If you want to go to a higher end Bounty Hunter, Garrett or DetectorPro contact me for special prices for T'Net members.

Sorry to hear this.Hopefully you won't have any problems with a refund or merch.exchange.Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
