Nine days of working the midnight until
8 am shift, got a day off. :)

Back out into the area I’ve been finding
the older coins. (If you followed the Jack
In The Pulpit post you would know what I’m
talking about.) The area is only about 25
min from where I live, easy to get into.

Said to myself, “lets just keep looking for coins”,
But alas, it was not to be. ::)

Started moving out of the area and did come
across this: :o

So many times, the chance, but it turns out
broken. So I go slow. I start digging next to
it trying to make it come out in one piece.

g12 (Small).JPG

Yes, a good one:

g13 (Small).JPG

Wash it out a bit. (try this photo as wallpaper) ;D

Still needs more cleaning.
Grone & Company/ St Louis/MO

g15 (Small).JPG

the Henry Grone Brewery, that was located at
2219 Clark avenue, St Louis, producing beer and
soda water from 1861-1934. This one would be
from the later period.

When and if I have more time I plan on returning
and doing more digging in this location. Could be
more “stuff”. ;)

The three times I have hit my coin area, I have
taken out two coins each trip.

1st trip: Silver, 1942 dime, and a 1941 wheat.
2nd trip: wheat 1920”s something and a buffalo
nickel 1935.
3rd trip: 191? wheat and a 1912 V nickel.

Today was the same story. Two coins,
1941 dime and an unknown buffalo. ;D

Also came across what I think is a very old
Ford key. Very small.
Any idea on age would be appreciated. ???

Felt good being out and digging. Felt good
being part of the woods.

Very nice coin finds, nice key and great bottle!!! The key looks like it might be an old tractor ignition key. 8)

Congrats on 5000. Love the bottle and key. Not sure of the key age but it does look old.

great stuff sherm! i need to find a spot like that!

Great post and a very nice dime... ;D
The key is from a Model-T or Model-A. I have found at least 30 of those. Just the other day I found a hub cap from a Model-T.

Nice finds Sherman,

That old blue bottle is a real keeper. I love those really old one's.

Wow! What a nice variety of stuff you're getting out of your site. That bottle is a beauty. The coins are great - is there no clad at this site? If not, how cool is that!!!??

More pix, more stories - love 'em.

TreasureTales,

no clad yet. Not bad on the junk, mostly the
old ring tops from very old cans. Folks have passed
through and left a bit of junk, but the things I am
digging seem to show that after the area was shut
down, cut off, whatever happened, it has not seen
very much use.

Do you have any of that CLR stuff? It works pretty well for cleaning bottles. I bet I'm not the only one here who would like to see that great bottle again - cleaned up some more - and with a closeup of the embossed label. It's so nice to find an intact bottle, isn't it.

Sweet bottle and old key, Sherm. I agree, another close up photo of the bottle. Digging our local dump a few days ago I found another broken top of a milk bottle. :'(

Keep digging!

Neat finds, SuperSherm! Love those old bottles. The swamp picture looks like Alligator Bayou. THanks for sharing!
