My wife and I went to view a home as we are thinking of moving out side of town. The house
was not to our liking so we decided to take some of the old roads on our return trip home.
We came across a dump site on the side of the road that looked like there was more then
just rusty old cans.
As I picked up the first bottle I new this was an older dump as you don't see thick green
glass bottles of this type every day. An old Rotterdam from Germany.
As we started moving the cans and broken bottles around the ones with no damage started
to pile up.
Here are some pics of some bottles I found amusing and interesting to say the least.
Do you remember taking your cod liver oil as a child? I burped it up hours later
and could still taste it. I think this guy with a fish hanging from his back must
be a cod liver oil bottle?
How about some colorine for your hair? Worlds best, And I do like the color.
Here's a big one and not a chip. My wife's favorite color. Not sure what was
in this one?
This bottle contained a remedy for women during there monthly cycle. Had 20% alcohol.
Lydia was a famous American business woman in her day.
This 1890 malt beer from Boston was a nice surprise.
This old cast chimney damper was cool to find amongst the trash. Pat 1889.
After about and hour our final tally was 97 bottles. I must be crazy? What the
heck am I doing hoarding when we are going to move.
I had my detector with me so I decided to have a quick scan a few yards away from the
dump in a near by clearing. I dug this small brass piece and have dug many before not
knowing what they were off of?
This horse gear laying on the surface showed me the light.
As you can see, it's off the brass loop of the horse gear.
I'd like to call this a Breezie buckle! She posted a similar one a while back and
9 pages of comments followed (grin). We love you Breezie!
This one reads British not CFJ or Paris. I have a Paris variety but this is
thicker and heavier.
The front has crossed swords and someone else on the forum found it's twin.
This silver coffin shaped spoon was a nice find.
It's a Munro. Alexander and his son John were early New Brunswick silver smith's.
1795 to 1860's.
Out popped this Canada military coat button but it was not alone.
As I scanned the hole again I got another good signal. Looks like he was in the Navy.
That made it 2 old silver's for the afternoon. It was very enjoyable to get out this
early in the season. Hope you all have a great season.....cheers
