I like that half real. The obverse you show has lots of detail which popped out after cleaning. It would be interesting to see the reverse.

King George II died in Oct 1760 so if it is a six it can only be 1760. Perhaps the six is a five? Nice hunt!!

You found those in a field of stalks? That must be difficult hunting. I haven't braved the unplowed corn yet. Gary

Very nice! Congratulations!

Bust is different for 1760 so if it looks like a 6 it is a 5.

Awesome coins I always wanted one of those. My town was founded around 1826 so I think that bucket will be empty. Great coin to add to your collection. Hope you find and post many more.

Well done! :icon_thumright:
I just found my first Half Real a year ago and have yet to find myself a KG copper...

Although George II reigned until 1760, there were no British coppers issued under his reign after 1754. Halfpennies are 28mm diameter and farthings are 23mm. No pennies were issued.

Nice, the KG2 is actually a Hibernia, made for Ireland.

If it is a Hibernia issue (for Ireland) then it could be 1860 but the reverse will pretty unmistakably have ‘HIBERNIA’ in large letter across the top, with a large crowned harp below. It's not easy to confuse that with the Britannia reverse for the 'regular' issue.

It's an Irish George II bust so British vs Irish was never in question.

Wow nice finds! I've been so busy this year I've barely been able to get out recently... I'm super jealous of all you guys getting out there and digging Spanish silvers and old coppers!

Definitely A Hibernia head Kg II. I have dug 1760 KG II Hibernia's in both farthing and halfpence.
