Found this piece of bone that had pretty much turned to stone. It looks filed down to a tool also. What is strange is no bone tools are found outside of water here. (so says my distant cousin a retired archeologist, that did the largest percent of his work in TN). Tell me If y'all agree that it is bone. If it is, that means the acidity of our soil has just recently (in terms of history) reached this high level.

I believe that looks like a Giant Tortoise spur!

I think we would get along well. Call it what ever you want it to be. Change it tomorrow it don't matter.

Ha... Could it be possible! Harry was mistaken..... the evidence in this case as compared to the deductions of scientific professionals worldwide may be adding up to the percentage of a multi informational tipping point. I know!...poke it with a stick! Hahaha

Thanks every one. Especially Tom Clark !! You nailed it bro. A spur is what it is 100% no doubt in my mind! After flipping through the link you gave, I saw one just like the one I found. Thanks again to all of you, and sorry that it wasn't an artifact.

Tortoise dermal bones will be rounded on one side and flat or concave on t'other. Three out of four of these osteoderms are from tortoises.

That is it. This one is slightly concave on one side and rounded slightly on top. Are they necessarily old? I know that turtles ( at least certain ones ) can be over 100 years old. I have heard, but have nothing but hearsay to go on, that they can be over 300 years old. Thanks Harry!

If its fossil its probably at least ten thousand years old bro.
