Blatz Milwaukee Copper Tag

I dug this tag, I think it is copper. Says "Blatz Milwaukee Sign Number 6S 1884". Size is about 1.25" x 3". Wondering what it is. Does the 1884 signify the date of this?

I am going to go with maybe keg tag? Or just a tag off an old advertizing sign.
