black smith hammered Iron?

I was in my bermuda triangle yard again today and found this. It looks black smith hammered and is one piece. I can see hammer marks all over. Can someone help me date this? I live in Shippensburg which was founded in 1730. Any input from this would be great

I dont know the age but it is cast iron not hand forged.

the iron is a manufactured piece...the handle is homemade...they probably lost the removable handle...

I think thats the original handle but its bent up some should be down tighter to the iron like this one.

By the looks of the iron, that thing couldn't have been buried very long in my estimation.

I've bought and sold lots of sad irons over the years, and many of them are as rusty as one can get.

It is hard to say there's a lot of people have lived at my house before me . It was under a tree with soft soil that's all I know.
