Samples from two different areas, once the weather improves - smelting will begin the top sample certainly shows promise, both by weight and microscope image.

For those interested in smelting the attached file is about the various flux's used and their purpose.

Wow now its silver chloride amazing.
And now its gold coated with copper.

On circuit boards where ever there is gold plating there is a a nickle plated barrier between the gold and the copper.

The ore I'm working with has palladium, platinum, silver gold and copper. With the copper showing up this tells me the my leach is too aggressive and the cyanide content should be cut back.

Southfork, I would venture a guess the allure of visible gold has given you tunnel vision, the waste your discarding still has values.

The visible gold is easy to collect and no waste. I can turn my gold into hard cash.

No waste, what is being discarded from your chain mill, as I said earlier your loosing values.
Dry powder that's made into a slurry and run on a ribbed sluice then the concentrates are blue bowled then panned. Every step is run twice no waste just clean white quartz sand more like powdered sugar.

What you've just described as your recovery process, the large mines in operation do the same with various types of equipment to first recover visible gold.

The mine operator then sends the clean white quartz to the leaching vats to recover the remaining gold which is by the way not visible to the naked human eyes.

The 600 pounds of milled ore I recently leached with cyanide netted me 5 grams of gold with a value of $309.85 US / $409.62 Canadian..

As for the platinum, this was cemented out from the gold baron leach using zinc, the cemented values will go into the catalytic converter concentrates which will go to the refinery.

If I were to regrind the previously processed discarded pulp could probably squeeze another gram of gold from it.

If your unable to obtain a supply of cyanide you could smelt your discarded sugar quartz with litharge mixed into the flux as the litharge turns into lead during the smelt it will collect any values.

The lead button cupeld will oxidize leaving you with a nice gold button.

I suspect the reason green boards are worth more money is the small IC's contain a lot of palladium. Back in the day when these chips were manufactured, palladium was worth much less than platinum or gold.

July 2023 / 23, palladium spot, Palladium $1262.00

Blinded by the color of gold, missing other potential values.

True story, recently was given 30 gallons of stock pot residue which the hobbyist refiner had recovered the gold from. turns out he missed the palladium.

Just as your doing southfork he did an excellent job of recovering the gold but at the end of the day tossed the baby out with the bath water.

Twenty three years of stock pot, thankfully some had evaporated during these past years, leaving me less volume of liquids to deal with.

The accumulation of black sludge a beautiful site to behold.

Once I have completed cementing everything out of the liquid waste the remaining acids brought back to a neutral Ph with the sludge's dried then off to the refinery.

Quartz in Gold out not interested or want to turn my home into a smelter. I have no need for black sludge I will leave that to you.

Neither do I wish to smelt this material, thus I will be sending to the refinery where they know best how to refine this material.

If your waste matrial from the chain mill on assay shows there are unclaimed values a simple centrifuge using only water would easily recover these.

No need to smelt the centrifuge concentrates, just send these off to the refinery.

But any money paid out from the refinery would be taxable income, perhaps you would like to avoid the tax issue.

The values other than Gold from this area would be a total waste of time and money. I'll keep my prospecting to finding a little gold as a hobby. I have buckets of gold bearing quartz waiting for cooler weather to process. Great winter and spring hobby in N. California.
