My son found the small black rock with gold specs in our back yard. Not sure what it is and would love some help identifying it. E7CF6EA6-76FE-47F0-BF11-3D5E9AE981C2.jpeg

I noticed this was your very first post - so, Welcome Aboard Blee04! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forum: Select Your Area.... for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country). You might also consider adding your state (or country) to your displayed profile (SETTINGS -> EDIT PROFILE) - members may have more success helping you (your location may help, etc.)...

Welcome.

If your back yard is in Greenland it may be Nuummite.

Otherwise I'd have to go with it being a piece of micaceous schist.

I found a few of those while drilling caisson holes in limestone bedrock. may have been other stone layers under the lime but some of this type popped out. Really bright gold specs in porous black material, fairly soft. no idea what it was but interested what you find out. Don't have mine anymore.
