Black Rock Desert

It's getting pretty cool at night now. It's still in the mid 80's during the day though. Sevier Dry Lake is pretty much dry. Most of the Sevier River is used for irrigation, very little gets through. It used to be quite large. The early pioneers were hoping that it's outlet would go to the Pacific Ocean. Boy were they disappointed. Not only did it not go to the ocean, but it doesn't have an outlet at all. Be very careful if you're going out there. Highway 6 isn't called America's loneliest road for no reason.

we are out that way a lot what is wrong with highway 6? travel from ga.

there's nothing wrong with it, you just have to be prepared. That's alot of country without any services. The road itself is great.

Hwy 6 is also a very deadly road. Two lane traffic and lots of accidents. It is one of the deadliest roads in America.

The story I heard was that he was looking for arrow heads and found the cave. He took one bar and went to the BLM and ask them what his cut would be for the find. Zero and took the bar of gold. He would not tell them where he found it and they followed him for years.

I also have some information about gold and a brass cannon East of Long Ridge Res...Send me an e-mail and I will send the maps....Art
