So I got out for a little bit today.
As some of you know its my Birthday Today, Thanks to Beez..
Any who, I was working in town today, so I decided to hit this place I have pounded for a year and a half with alot of guys, especially Treblehunter.
The ground was soaked, it rained all night and some in the morning.
Rain is great, but not that much rain.
The Deus would not quite down, lots of popping and whistling.
Thought I would try running in Beach on the ground balance. Boy did that work..
Anyway, fist good target was the 1876 s seated dime, I killed it with my digger, she is standing now instead of seated..lol.
Thought i would polish her up because can hurt it any worse.
Then came 2 merks and 3 IHs, 1880, 1888, and 1900, the last coin there was a 1876 10 phenning. Thats a cool date like the seated, the CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION was in philly, over one million people came from all over the word to celebrate.
Maybe they were from then????
The relics came from the other day.
If anyone knows what some of then are please chime in..
Thanks for looking.
George

Happy birthday Georgino! That's a nice assortment of great finds, I'd take a birthday hunt like that anytime! Sucks when a nice coin gets nicked, but with all the chopping and digging with sharp tools, it's bound to happen. I have scratched my fair share haha.

Would have been nice to see a "D" on the back of that 16 Merc...now THAT would be a birthday present!

Does the eagle have a hole in the top of its head or under its beak? If so, it could be a sword pommel. It's the correct size. They're usually from militia swords from the 1830s and 40s.

Lol..Tyler, it was a hour and a half!!!
Oh my my CT It seems like the Birthday Boy is being very modest or once belonged to a shoe maker. You might want to cut his time he said by ½. Say about 45 mins

a few years ago I had a promising signal in between some roots and must have taken 10 minutes to get it out. Without thinking I rubbed the dirt off of it to major disbelief it was a seated dime. It had survived getting it out of the roots, but got some nice hairlines after I rubbed it. I never rub coins, and it was a bit frustrating, but damaging a coin happens every now and again.

I did the same thing last month swiped a coin and scratch lines across the face.

Hey Vino... Great finds. Congrats. Glad to see that you had a nice Bday.

TBD, You are correct. Vino moves really fast, like a squirrel on meth. He gets an hour and half of hunting done in 45 minutes!

Hey Buck thanks for the heads up, I have been looking them up, it does have a attachment point that looks like the handle would have came from. I also found on Google your post from 2008 about the one you found..
Here is a pic of underneath and a pic of one I found on the net..
Thanks again
George

Thanks for the birthday wishes.
Yes that place has been amazing to us over the last year and a half.
I remember I gave up on that place a year ago, and you keep saying there's still stuff there! Lol.
I wish I keeped count of how many old coins and artifacts have came out.
Them seated and IHs and merks were in the back on the right side.
I really never hunted that spot 2 much.

Happy Birthday Vino- looks like you were able to enjoy the day. :)

Too bad about the scratch, but at least you got that out of the way now instead of on your next 8 Reale... :tongue3:

Those are some great birthday gifts. Happy B-day.
