Biggest nugget

28 lbs. Found in North Carolina. :icon_thumleft:

About 1803, John Reed organized a small gold mining operation. Soon afterward a slave named Peter found a 28-pound nugget. Reed continued with placer mining for a number of years. In 1831 he began underground mining. John Reed died rich in 1845 from the gold found on his property.

Side note to this story: Peter was told he could keep whatever he could pry off of the 28 lb nugget with his dinner fork, but he abstained as he didn't want to ruin his fork.

is it true that someone found a 10 pound nugget in Georgia not to long ago?
