Well I resumed my attempt to find gold using the Bigfoot coil (on the spectrum XLT) this morning in an area where I have found some odd finds in the past including a doorknob plate, tiny silverplated religious medal, ?3 merry widows for $1.00? condom container?. Etc. etc.

[For those of you who dont know.... I am currently on a quest to find gold using the bigfoot coil on my White's spectrum XLT]

In 2 hours of detecting I found the following as seen in the below pic?

Another doorknob plate (exact same kind as I mentioned finding above long ago),a broken silver plated flatware handle, harmonica reed, an unusual United states seal button & a 1928 mercury dime.
Dug quite a few trash targets & am still amazed at how much I have missed in this spot on previous hunts? especially the silver dime. I was using Terry?s 15 preamp program with the Bigfoot coil & found the dime about 4 inches deep?. Registered once or twice as a penny & many times it jumped between dime & quarter (those kinds of signals (using terry?s program) is usually a telltale sign that it is a dime). The large bigger-than-a-quarter-sized United states seal button rang in between a quarter & half dollar & has a backmark of ? Waterbury scovill Mf?g co? ?.. Any info on this would be appreciated as I have found civil war bullets about a quarter mile away from this spot. I don?t find many buttons so I was surprised when I found it.
Anyway? no gold yet, but I am still happy at finding silver.
HH

Cool finds. Silver is always nice too. I had a good day myself today but only a couple of wheaties & some clad. Best on finding the gold. I am into that idea myself, but I think I am gonna spend the bucks & get a GMT to go along with my DFX & QXT. THe GMT seems to be the best option for nugget shooting to me. Spotz

Nice silver!! Sorry, I don't know anything on buttons. It seems everybody played harmonicas back when. I've found numerous reeds from them. Good luck on your gold quest. HH

Just don't be like me and burn yourself out on your quest. I went on a quest for silver at a site where an old house was demolished. I spent several days and many many hours going through this site repeatedly just knowing that there was silver someplace. It dawned on me one day that I was no longer having fun! When it's no fun any longer it's like having a job you hate! So, I have backed off and have just been doing some recreational coinshooting for the past few days. I find that I am enjoying MDing again now that I am not taking it too serious. Do a quick reality check and see if you have to have that gold now. If not, relax and take a break, let it lie for awhile and I'm sure it will come in due time.
