Got out to two parks yesterday and today. While swinging next to an older tree, I spied this 2,000 year old beauty lying on the surface... Here's an in situ... basketweave9.JPG

Some pix back at the laboratory... Man I love the gray chert with red inclusions! Wonder what critter this was thrown at?

Also dug a pretty bling pendant, another fancy dog name tag, a small bling earring too...

The silver score of the excursions was this little whopper. A "tribal?" motif sterling mans ring, marked, "WM/ Ster/ copyright" inside. Rang up a solid 85 at two inches on the ATPro. It weighs in at 7.5 grams. This one is ring #22 for the year so far.

Thanks for looking. I hope that the weather is nice in your neck of the woods and you can get out and dig this weekend! Sub (Lance) 8-)

Very nice digs. Love the point.

That chert material reminds me if Keokuk from Oklahoma (?) I'm using the phone app so I can't see where you are from, and I might have the location of that material wrong, long day at work, giving my eyes some candy to look at... Haha... Great finds!!!

I remember Worldtalker was on a silver roll last year. Looks like you are 2 or 3 laps ahead of him so far:icon_thumright:

That ring is a chunker !!! Sweet pendent too !

Nice finds! Big Congrats!

Very cool finds, congrats on that point!

The point is great and I like the pendant as well. Looks like amber.

Well Lance, you sure are pulling the bling. You've found 22 and I am at 3, you da man sub.

Nice hunt!! stone is no way amber, it appears to be Montana agate.

I didn't notice your location until after I saw the 417 area code. May I ask what parks you go to? I am new to this and need places to go. Maybe you could take a newby out one day.

PADD, I found the point in Barry County, MO, close to NE Oklahoma, so probably the same geology there. Home of the Osage tribe and the mammoth hunters before them. This multi-colored chert is everywhere here, mostly wreaking havoc on my digging tools. Sub 8-)

ErGarber, Always glad to help a fellow Ozarks detectorist. First, I will invite you to our 417 Relic Hunters club meetings. First Tuesday evening of every month at 7:00 PM at the new library on South Campbell in Springfield. I hit public areas in the metro and outlying areas. Come introduce yourself at a meeting and we may be able to get out on a dig together! Sub (Lance) 8-)

Loco, No, YOU are da man! I look at your 2015 finds and:

I have a lot of "catching up" to do! My ratio of precious metal rings to junkers is 1 in 4 so far. I believe in casting a big net! Sub 8-)

I am at 33% junk, 33% silver, and 33% 14K white gold for 2016. I have learned to not disc 1-25, like I did in 2015. Now I only disc somewhere between 6 and 9.

Isn't that fascinating? To find a 2000 year old point next to a tree in a park? LOL
I did the same thing with my first and only point I found, just last year! In a school ground
no less!

Great finds Sub!
