Hey guys. It's good to be back. My computer is up and running and I've got a phone again... and pics.
I went back to the farm where I found a Royal Provincials button. Nothing has been cut, nor do I think anything will be. The landowner couldn't be bothered this year. There is a small field next to the farm with a lot of history. I know that it has been pounded by others for decades, and the gentleman is quite old... so I didn't bother him.
Well, I was at the right place at the right time, with the right tools in the truck. He couldn't find a screwdriver to fix his well. I had one. Make a long story short, I helped him out for an hour, drove him around, etc, and now I have permission.
The first hunt out wasn't too bad!
Funny story. The night before I took out a Morgan dollar and Canadian dollar which were recently given to me... I tested them on my Etrac and couldn't believe my eyes. 1-41 for the 1890 Morgan and the 1945 Canada dollar read as 1-37.
Fast forward to the following morning....
First target of the day with the Etrac. I get an 11-45 one way, and the other way.... 1-41! I said, "a dollar would be nice". When this popped out, I knew this place still had some left for me.
This gilted button... I thought it was military at first, but then I cleaned it and wasn't sure. A gentleman from the UK on another site said it was military. Iron Patch, can you confirm?
A little cuff button
Ships, Colonies, Commerce half penny. Toasted. I could barely make out the ship after cleaning...
No messing around here... I will give it another shot tomorrow for a couple of hours.
Happy hunting!
