Went back to my flat button site today.
The finds were good there, but have been scarce lately.
Decided to try my new 11" coil here and i also like the fact that this site is large and shaded by many trees.
Towards the end of a slow hunt I was telling myself that the site is likely hunted out.
I was getting ready to leave, but wanted to comb one last area where I got the St Philomena Catholic Necklace thing a few weeks ago.
I get a decent signal not too deep, in a trashy area. I kinda figured it was a beer can or a piece of iron.
I dig a plug and see what looks like some old brass or copper junk with something shiny inside of it.
At first I figured it was junk, and then.... Holy $#*% its a Walking Liberty Half dollar inside of a Dollar sign money clip.
The first photo below is what it looked like when it came out of the ground.
Its a little worn, but hey, beggars cant be choosers.

That money clip is unique alone and to have a silver liberty half with it must have got your heart pumping.
Congrats. TM.

Congratulations on the real cool "two in one" find!

very cool find. makes you wonder if the half wasn't folded up in some paper money when it was lost

Awesome fimd!!

What a unique find there BP.

I hear Tylerbdad flashes one of those around in public to try and meet chicks! :laughing7: He's got quite a reputation in SC as the "half dollar sugar daddy." :headbang:

FYI if you've never seem Tylerbdad, I've posted a photo of him below:

It does make sense to me that when that was dropped in the 1930's /40's ( whenever ) that there would have been some bills along with
the coin - the green may well be from the contact with the brass or copper money clip . Amazing find !
Thanks Argentium. Too bad Bills don't fare as well as silver.
That is just a great find! As long as the site keeps giving you goodies like that, I guess we can expect you to keep going back.
Thanks Old Dude. Went out yesterday and tried some parks and explored some new areas. Didn't do so well, seems like all the parks around here have been hammered in the past by others. Wanting to go back to the site I got that half at, but gota spend some time with Mrs BP today.
There is something ya don't see everyday!!! Cool find/save!!!! :icon_thumright:
Thanks Basque-man. Yeah, probably wont ever happen to me again, but would be a lot cooler if it did.
Congrats on the one of a kind find. :occasion14: Silver dollars are rare in my area. Most of the bigger silvers in town were pulled back in the 70' & 80's.
Thanks Loco-Digger. Seems like most big silver is rare in my area. Im usually content with finding a dime.
You never know what your going to find, pretty cool.
Thanks Treblehunter. No doubt, sure wasn't expecting that. I gota start digging more of those beer-can signals. Lots of beer-cans and bullets out there in Mississippi.
That is awesome! Congrats!
Thanks Msbeepbeep.
That's crazy awesome! Weird as heck that someone would clip a coin in a clip, but silver is silver and that is a great find! Congrats!
Thanks Aluminum Monster. I can only imagine the person who lost the half was thinking that, "If I put this half in my money clip it wont get lost".

Thanks Time Machine. Yes, It got the old blood rate pumpin for sure, you should have seen me scanning the 5' perimeter to see if I missed something that might have fallen out of the clip.
Congratulations on the real cool "two in one" find!
Thanks Professor of Engineering. Double Down. Too bad the clip wasn't sterling...

Thanks jewelerguy. Yep, too bad paper money doesn't last long in the ground. I found a wallet underwater once when I was a kid at my buddys familys swimming hole.
Opened the wallet and saw 3 hundred dollar bills that must have had a hundred tiny holes in each one. I called my buddy over to show him and he immediately said my dad lost a wallet here a few years ago. We looked, and sure enough his dads drivers license was in there. We gave it back to him and he took the bills to the bank and exchanged them for new ones.
Awesome fimd!!
Thanks Deershed.

Thanks Erik. Half Dollar Sugar Daddy, I like that. I think he hunts them lakes for jewelry to give to all his mistresses.
Im starting to think he has webbed feet.
A find like that would have me beaming all month long .
Maybe longer. Cool find.
Thanks Against the Wind. Im still Beaming, but ready for more.
Thanks Casper
That's a very cool find, & they both cleaned up real nice.
Thanks Trezurehunter. I hate to have to clean my coins, but they come out of the ground so crusty here in Southern Miss. Seems I never find key dates, and they look so much better cleaned. I lose the Patina sometimes, but most are covered with black spots, etc.

Very cool find, there were probably some bills on the clip a long time ago too but disintegrated after 70 years in the ground :notworthy:

Thanks Cool Hand Fluke. Was a good day...... Hopefully many more will come my way.
Wow really cool find to bad that walker is so smooth and wore out that's on my bucket list of finds
Thanks SGT Claddy. I know right, unfortunately many of my better finds are near slick.
