It was a spring like day getting up into the 60's and I had about 3 hours to kill before my Niece's Birthday party. I went back to a place I have been finding some silver at over the last few weeks. The property is really rough and very trashy with tons of aluminum and steel over the entire area. I have been using my small 5" coil to get in between the trash and debris that is there. They are starting to clear the land and move dirt around and I was hoping it would help bring up the coins. I turned on my Etrac and started at a debris pile, I got a pretty good signal and took my foot and moved the dirt to reveal a 1936 Washington quarter. It was a great surprise and a great start and I hoped this would set the tone for the hunt. I spent the next two hours sifting through all the aluminum cans and trash trying to get to any kind of keeper but only had two Memorials to show for it. I had 20 minutes left to hunt and was happy with my silver quarter when I put my coil over a great sounding signal in a row of loose dirt. I moved the dirt with my foot totally expecting another big piece of aluminum, just to be shocked to see that nice BIG silver coin laying on the ground. I could not believe I had just kicked a Walker out of that pile of dirt. What a way to end the hunt! It was very tough to pull myself from there after that, but I had to go. I think I have replayed that moment a thousand times in my head today, nothing like the thrill of Big Silver! HH David
