Part II of the new camera posts....

There is a local farm that has been hit very hard by the local THers but since I'm reasonable new to the hobby I thought I would try it out. Most of the coins that are pulled out of the farm are from the 1800s but the fertilizer really does a job on the non silver coins.

Here is a picture of a large cent, Minnie ball and some musket balls all pulled out of the farm.

On December 30th of 2006 I just spent two hours hunting the farm and on the way back to the truck I got a good dollar signal. This usually means a big piece of farm junk but I dug it and I'm glad I did. Once I got some dirt out of the hole I saw the edge of a silver coin and it was large. With the age of the other coins I was find I thought this is a Morgan which would be my first silver dollar.

As I always read here on T-Net you never know what you are going to find. It was not a Morgan but it was a silver dollar. Here it is......

I believe it is a 1911 Chinese Silver Dollar. New then I expected but I will take it as my first and only so far, silver dollar. It definitely is different and I love the Dragon on the front. Sorry that the picture are not the clearest...I'm still getting use to the camera.

Thanks for looking....HH.

Great coin!

VERY nice silver, NJ! I know what you're talking about with the fertilizer destroying the coins. :-\

Congrats on your silver, copper and bullets! Nana :)
