Detector(s) used
GPX4500/Nox900/Nokta Gold Kruzer, Garrett Axiom
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Just recently got a Garrett Axiom. The first time out with it I tried the small mono coil out at one of my spots that has extremely hot ground. All detectors struggle here. My first impression was well I didn't know yet, I had to tame this thing down some, it is crazy sensitive. I had to run it in normal instead of fine just to ground balance it. it was pretty noisy in this ground but after messing with the settings and trying different things out i got it pulling targets up just fine, You really need to slow down with this one, its just the way it works. when you really slow down and keep your coil on the ground the targets light up. I didnt get any gold on the maiden voyage. I think I've taken it out 4 or 5 times now and its paid for itself already. My 3rd time out with it I tried the 13"DD FC coil and found the first nugget with it...4.2 gram specimen at a foot deep. the DD coil is a huge difference and a must have for super hot ground, now I can run in Fine and sensitivity at 6 or even 7. Its a smooth running machine now! punching pretty deep in hot soil and also hitting on tiny targets. Saturday morning I got back out there with a positive mind set and confidence in this new machine. I hiked to the location I had in my mind to start at, took a min to look around and I was at the end of a tailings run so I turned on the machine, did a frequency scan, I ground balance and start swinging slowly and boom first target right away sounds good...too good, its a loud and clear signal...high-low. I scrape back the first 2 inches or so and now its overloading the detector. Im sure its an old nail at this point. I take a couple more inches off thinking i for sure moved the nail but the target is still there and absolutley blanking out the machine. 100% sure its a nail but I want to get it out of the way so I get down and start digging a scoop at a time(I thought I was right on top of the nail) well scoop after scoop and Im down about 8 to 10 inches now, still a banger target in the bottom of the hole. I popped out a dirty rock that was stuck in the bottem of the hole with my scoop and waved it over the coil, BOOM its the muddy rock, Wiping it with my thumb I can see a glimmer on one side. Its hard to explain this feeling but it sure is awesome! I made my way down to the creek to clean it up and realized this isnt going to fit in my nugget bottle. A good problem to have haha. 91.6 grams (2.95 troy oz) total with the specific gravity test showing approx 21.04 grams of gold. After this it was nail after nail and bullets and bbs all over around this spot. crazy it was the first target i walked right up to and then got all the trash after. Eventually I wondered around some more and I got one more small .4 gram nugget before I called it a day

Outstanding!!! That's a beauty of a specimen, and worthy of a banner.... :occasion14: :occasion14:

Man, what a beautiful and large specimen! Super congratulations! I sure agree with prepperj that it is a mouthful! Thanks for showing it to us.

Thanks folks! This year has kicked off to a pretty golden start for me so far. especially for just being a weekend detectorist. I forget to post all my finds but I will try to remember to do it more often.

Yes I cant tell you how many times I dug loud trash targets and they turned out to be gold on or near the surface. this piece was down about 8 to 10 inches but the size of it had my detector screaming.
that's a nice one. makes it worth digging all them loud junk targets.

Love it! So glad to see this!
Thank you Sir! thank you for the excellent customer service as well! I will definately buy from you again next time I need anything!
Shout out to Bart! He is the man if you need a new detector!
