Hi Everybody,
Been a while since I dug.
Started a 4:45 yesterday morning at a coastal site that was a scrap metal/junk car area of the city.
in the early 20th century, they bulldozed all the buildings, filled in a tidal inlet, and built a row of homes where the shoreline now sits.
the site has given up gold on two previous hunts, an Artcarved Band, and an ornate Clockface piece.
Also lots of .50 cal ammo and some artillery pieces.
not many Pre 1850 finds here, but I think it was a popular swimming area earlier in this century.
Good Finds:
1961 Dime8
1918 Quarter (ha, it's an 'S' and I see a really flat top on that 8, maybe the 7 over 8 error )
Art Noveau 14K Pansy pin
a new 'Peacock' pattern Knife handle
A shame the pin is so chipped and damaged,
I pulled from a crevice in rock outcropping with a piece of copper wire I had dug
Has anyone seen the makers mark before? looks like the top of a keystone...
I just researched the fishing reel base, it is stamped 'Hendryx'
http://www.ebay.com/...0629#vi-content
Holy Toledo! this just in, Got an Id on the pin, Art Newvo style,
Fits right in with timeline of other finds at this site:
"Art Nouveau, ornamental style of art that flourished between about 1890 and 1910"
mine weighs almost twice as much as this one
http://www.ebay.com/...=item2a1de03176
with that kind of value, I'm looking to have this piece re-enamelled.
( I don't have a problem selling jewelery, it just doesn't have the same 'Feelings' as
my coins and military relics do)
Big thanks to Mike at Woodland Metal Detector Sales Just got a new T2 from him,
He's been guiding me through my first couple years of detecting,
I wouldn't be finding my goodies without his help, and he's always there with great prices
and award winning customer service
Thanks for looking and HH All! Herbie.
