Well this year seems to be off to the best start ever and I'm finding a ton of stuff I have no idea about. Thought I'd take the long walk to my best copper finding spot and not more than 10 minutes I get a good $.50/$1 signal, it's always a big chunk of lead when I get a good signal, but I kept my fingers crossed for this one. As my luck would have it, it payed off BIG time, bagged the biggest piece of copper I have ever found ;D, and I have no clue to what it could be and don't think a guess will get me very far with this one so any thoughts on what it may be would be great. Best guess I have so far is that its some type of chisel or wood working tool. It measures about, 5" long, 1 3/4" at it's widest, and 1/2" thick, the bent part sticks out 1 1/8", on the skinny end its 1/4" thick and 3/4" wide. The bent end on it tapers from the inside towards the out and comes to a rather well shaped edge. I don't have a scale, but I would guess the weight to be around one pound.

Thanks for looking
John

Here is some more stuff that I've found on my last few trips. First one is the first socketed point or spear ? that I have found, it's 2 1/2" long and found about 10' away front the big one in my first post. #2 is a very thin sheet like piece of copper thats mostly uniform and ranges from .014" to .021" thick and has a hole punched in it, not sure if it's just junk or something worth hanging onto. #3 is all of the worked pieces I found on my last 4 trips, 3 conicals, 1 awl, and 3 don't knows.

I just clean them with soapy water and a toothbrush, most of what I find is very clean and doesn't have much of a patina, I don't give them that much of a washing so they don't get beat on and stay in as much of the original condition as I found them in, just enough to get the dirt off. I don't have the best digital camera so my pictures are rather rough so what you see on here is a bit off from what it really looks like.
Yes I would say the last few conicals I have found are VERY rough compared to the other ones I have found. Think I have found a few preforms from the same spot I found the big one at, also have another conical with the hole in it that I forgot to post, try to get some pictures added later tonight of those.

The first one I found this year and the maybe preforms.
