Anybody have thoughts on this? It’s all solid brass or bronze. Maybe a flagpole thing? I think the long piece may be bent?

Yeah that makes sense. Doesn’t seem like it’s at a uniform angle so it could definitely be bent. Tough and strong - I can’t bend it back by hand.

They are generally called oar locks, and yes I think you may be correct.

I'd be interested to see a pic from the top down.
You've shown us a pic of the bottom, but I want to see if there's any wear evident in the 'U' shaped top section.

If it is an oar lock, then there should be signs of wear & tear.
I'm thinking it's wagon related hardware. :icon_scratch:

If that was an oarlock, the base would be turned 90 degrees,
and the oarlock would swivel on the base. The "U" on your item
is welded to the base.

It's very cool, but it's not an oarlock.

It's a nice piece Randazzo! Shows real durability. The indentation around the mounting hole indicates it
was solidly bolted to something. I'm going with something from the marine realm but can't ID.
Best wishes!

That is an excellent observation! :icon_cyclops_ani:

Could it possibly be a candle or lamp holder??!!

I think you're getting close. Mounted vertically on a wall, that "U" could
easily be used as a candle holder, mount for a fire extinguisher or some
other equipment.

Lamp / Candle holder makes sense. Maybe a gutter or water pipe guide? Like mounted on side of a building
