For Valentine's Day I was given a BH 202. I've had moderate success with it just out letting the kids do the digging. We've found numerous pulltabs and screw tops.

Is there anyone out there that has a BH 202 that could help me find settings so that I'm finding deeper objects and not so many pull tabs. I've tried to "notch out" the pull tabs the way they showed in the movie (put it on a table and wave the undesirable object over the coil, turning the disc dial until it's not registering.) Problem being is that I turned and turned and turned and it kept registering. (sigh) I've gotten false signals (either that or I just didn't find it) and wondered if there is a way to "ground balance" the 202?

Any help would be appreciated!!

had a 202 before my mxt
but aneyhow if you want to dis out pull tabs
turn the unit on in all metal mode then turn your dis all the way up
you will note pull tabs are gone along with nickels and gold rings, so if cald is what your after thats what you do.
the notch and auto notch for the most park work only for iron but with practice you can tell what the pull tab
sounds like and can just pass them over - again never know when one of them hits, may be a ring
as they sound in the same range. short of silver rings as they should ring in the dime range but not always.

hope this info helps

Thanks Upier....I'll try that once either the rain or my cold clears up. Erg. Went out to the waterfront on the Ohio last week and froze my fingers off. Dumb. Only found 3 current pennies and a cold germ. Oh well.....

Thanks again!

Hey qeylya, I own a 202.? Turn your sensitivity to 1:00 and discrimination to zero and then hit auto notch.? Go like the wind.? It will make a lot of noise.? Pass back over the targets.? If they are broken or mixed, it is trash.? Make a "+" symbol to pinpoint.? There again if you don't get a repeated signal on each inner edge of the innner coil, it's trash.? With practice, you'll be able to pinpoint and call the target before you dig it.? The tones between jewelry, tabs and nickels are ever so slightly different.? Swing that baby and cover a lot of ground.? Trust the machine.? If the coins/jewelry are there, it will pick them out.? The depth guage is not accurate, but gives you a good idea of how deep to go.? ?You will come out with a lot of coins and very little trash.? Onionhead is the BH pro.? He'll give you some good advice.

Carl,

Thanks!! I've been wondering about the multiple hits. Either I'm hunting in an old scrap yard or there's more down there than I could ever dig. When I try to find them again they either change their tone or hide completely. May have been a result of poor settings though.

I've heard about machines that are *slow* or *fast* swingers. I've tried both with equal results.

I've already noticed that the depth gauge isn't what it's meant to be. Kind of gets you in the general ballpark though.

Thanks again!
