Desperate for a spot I look up the sanborn maps and check out the old Saltair Resort which was built in 1893 on the Great Salt Lake.

The first thing that I saw was an old railcar that used to haul the people from Salt Lake out to the old resort now embellished by the thugs.

I drive out as far as I dare. This area is Mud Flats and Sand.

The first thing I find is a Mini Mag Lite.

It dosent work when I found it so I took it back to the truck and put some batteries in it. Let there be light...Sweet!

After walking in about another half a mile I find whats left of the posts that Saltair used to be on.
This was a bathing resort so I was thinking of all the old rings that the swimmers lost over the years.

There was plenty of old glass everywhere which got my hopes up as well.

After 4 hours I found a bunch of old brass, a silver fork, and a maglite.

I did meet a new friend on the way out, her name is Bobbie, a little worse for wear but at least shes dressed for the occasion.

Overall it was a bust.
But I think that I will try again, There has to be one old ring out there somewhere!

I meant "a bust" in the best possible way my dear!

Man that is an awesome place to detect at. I would hammer that place. Every little beep would get dug. Get out there and finds some rings. They are out there for sure.

Hey great post and pictures.....there has to be some good stuff there, if I lived closer I'd be there!

What great place to md! and the coverage, second to none......its like being there.
A Honda quad or similar with someone hanging off the back/side..... the mind boggles

Thousands of square miles (kilometers) of sand, salt flats, mountains and trails with no one around.
You could really go forever, just dont run out of gas!

Were the spiders out in the old rail cars?, they are some mean looking spiders! To bad that place was so hammered when the water first went down. I have a Hutch that someone dug there. That guy Jerald dug three silver dollars and a twenty in the same hole there. Good hunting, kane 23
