So i have done a bit of research. Starting with the thought that I would buy and refine catalytic converters. But I have since decided that it may not be safe as I have limited space to do it and am also environmentally minded(don't want to mess up mother nature to make a buck).

I haven't yet called the local scrap yard to see what they are paying but they are usually pretty low on prices since they are the only place in a 40 mile radius or so.

Ebay seems like a good place to resell. i know the fees and such but the auctions that are ending soon are anywhere from 30-100+ per converter.

I have done some searching for a refinery in the states but haven't had any luck.

So for the people who sell these things where is the best profit at?

Thanks much and HH

Thanks for the info guys.

Mark-Right now I don't think I can work on a scale in the 100's. Though I am currently trying to work some deals to buy them from a few local junkyards. If I do the labor of removing them what do you think a good fair price is to offer the (car)junk yard guys? One thing I will take into consideration is what the local scrap yard is paying for them then deduct the labor of removing them.

Removing them should be fairly easy for cars that aren't flat on the ground I have a battery powered reciprocating saw that holds up good. that and a ratchet I should be able to move fairly quick through them. Anyway thanks a bunch. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

I know a feller who knows a feller that unloaded 100 c.c.'s for $22k!!! I guess you get more for certain models like mercedes due to larger platinum inside. CHeck state to state it may be worth the hauling price to get that kind of $$$.

good luck

Japanese and some european makes have rhodium in them along with the platinum.
rhodium runs about $6000/ounce.
