Best Months Hammered Total...

I have now had 21 hammered this month (so far), which beats my previous record of 13

This is 8.5 hours of my time & 5 hours of Dads;

11 Roman Coins
4 Hammered
Nice early Jetton
Roman Furniture fitting
Buckles
17th Century Tokens
Lead Tokens
Medieval strapend
Few nice buttons including a Tudor type
bits...

The Field is 70% complete (22 acre field)

I missed this

You hit the good bit then

Not really, went over the previous good bit & took over 4 hours for the first hammered, then a bit of a streak in an area which previously had very little. Thats why you do the whole field, as you know Still a good area to complete but it may need to wait until after harvest next year

That's what you said would happen

I did suspect as much but of course secretly hoped it would be good in the good area & good in the bad area as well Overall this field has made our year, with 32 hammered so far

As you seen, I've had some great 17th C tokens which I really enjoy researching & getting new types. Had at least 3 specimens from the field
Can't wait to see the owner's face when I show him it all

I've reported everything I need to under UK Law, to be honest that is very little, all the rest we keep detailed records of. When you hand it in you get a British Museum report on it, which is generally pretty detailed including metal content etc...

They don't have the money or resources to investigate any of my sites, they just log it (all Archaeology now is construction lead). It would be different if I handed in a hoard, which they would likely follow up with a dig.

Thats the nice Tudor period button with drilled shank, always a joy to find them with the long shank still attached. (normally the plough beats me to them)
