I'm constantly asked (as I'm sure many of you here are too..), "What's the BEST thing you've ever found"? Well....I can now pretty much answer that question very easily! Here it is! 14K Yellow Gold, Halo/Basket setting with approx .75 to 1.0 carats of diamonds around and a WHOPPER of a center stone. Somewhere either side of 2 carats. Likely in the J-K color range but still giant! Found on the beach about mid slope. I was thinking I found one that was lost this past summer that Gigmaster, I and others had searched for as a return but was never found. It too had an oval diamond but in a different setting but I think the stone in this one is a bit bigger! I had already made up my mind that the gold was real and the stones fake, no way this was real right? When I got home and put it on the diamond tester I couldn't believe it! I tested it multiple times and still wasn't completely sure till I took it to my Jeweler and he confirmed it! I'm still kinda in shock a week later! Can't stop looking at it! lol

I have found many rings with big stones in the last 10 years of detecting but the biggest REAL diamond was a 1 carat stone. Biggest real diamond until now that is....I took it for an appraisal and should get the results back possibly tomorrow.

Pretty happy with this one as you can imagine! Also as a bonus on the same hunt, I found a PRISTINE 1880 Morgan Silver Dollar! Couldn't believe it! It is in WAY too good of a shape to have come out of the ocean and it's not something we often come across beach hunting in our area so I'm guessing it was dropped out of someone's pocket. Maybe a good luck token or something?

Good luck all, I hope you all get some good stuff too! Merry Christmas!

Sorry, no video, just the pictures. I was out by myself when I found it. Getting appraisal back today, Steve may put out the info in a later video. Good luck to you man! You have been getting some good stuff at Tybee and your dirt spots! Well done!

Im voting banner on that beautiful ring...the diamond is a large quality stone...my main reason for voting !! Congrats Doc....what a stunning piece !!
Thanks Bart!

Congrats on your most value ring find. Don't forget to update us?
The dollar is pretty cool as well!

Now maybe others will understand that about the only place you earn some big $$$ is on the beach or desert looking for two different types of gold. One in the natural state and the other with hunks of ice on them.
I get what your saying & not trying to pick at what your saying, but I'm not interested in big $$$ or big ยฃยฃยฃ. It's horse's for course's & most detectorist starting up & thinking they will make big $$$ will soon be disappointed.
Personally the value of objects only interest me so as to be fair to the farmers. Not to sell them unless I can't afford to keep them (very rare, 1 item every 3 years). I think a large group of detectorist enjoy the History.

Read many times that $$$ is the key to success of the recovery-sold for $$$, etc......
I get what you are saying in "Personally the value of object's only interest me" though it can be taken two ways also.
Is the item just a cool recovery as it stimulated something in you when viewed-or that the item would if sold bring a good $$$/ยฃยฃยฃ?
Most will ask me what's it worth? When they look at my full gold Stater-I quote the price given to me, and then say it's worth more to me as I have it instead of I had.
If the $$$ out weighs the have factor and in return pays for another have, then it's a great little bonus in life.
Though from selling many haves in life I can't really recall anything the the $$$ really was spent on-but it probably financed life's habits along a tad.
Wishing the that the Tuesday appraisal be a great wow, best of luck DocBeav

Went to pick up appraisal today but appraiser was out sick so I won't be abler to get the full report till next week. I got a quick verbal over the phone though....

Hard to get an exact size on the main stone as it would need to be removed for weight but estimates are it is around 2 carats. It is "M" color and IS1 or IS2 clarity. Not the best color stone (pretty low down the scale) but value is in the size, lol. Appraisal for whole ring is $12,000, still pretty happy with that! (and I won the bet with my wife, she estimated $7k to $10K, I said 12K to 15K. I win!) I will probably have the stone taken out and sent to GIA for a full certification and get it engraved with a serial number. Having that will make it easier to sell in the future. If I do get the GIA cert, I will also post that info here later on.

Very nice results on the ring.
True the quality of the stone makes a huge difference in price.
Then again most things of value has that distinction.
Congrats once again on the great recovery and letting us know the results. ๐Ÿ‘

Congratulations on your beautiful accomplishment Voting Banner

Another find proving why a nickel reading should be confirmed rather than passed over. I would rather have no doubts as effort is the one thing I can control.

Wow!!!! Congrats!!!!!

Did the jeweler give you an approximate value? I am guessing 6-8 grand.
Look in post #30 above for full info but appraisal was $12,000
