Went to my usual creek full of geofacts and heart breakers, went to a different branch this time though that was much smaller than the main creek, walked about 100 yards and found a pot hole in the creek bottom, digging through the sand I found this Ohio dovetail, my best find yet. It has some weird white moss or something on it though? Looks glazed almost. Weird. And then I found this knife or scraper, made from similiar material as the point and then found a chopper or hand axe. All found in Cincinnati Ohio, if you can date any of these it would be very much appreciated

No I really did find this, Iv got a few good places to look. There are a lot of creeks around my house. Iv been trying to identify the stuff I find by websites I got off of here so I thought it was a dove tail. And I didn't
Even know what the other stuff was. I thought a knife and some kind of chopper. I don't think it's fake because I found it. I don't sell my stuff so I have no reason to fake an artifact

All I did was google
Lost lake
Arrow head and stuff
Like this shows up, it looks an awful lot like mine, I don't see the problem

It is a beauty! Congrats!! I, not for one second doubt you. Neither can I understand why others would. Keep on keepin on!

I am not doubting that he found it. I am doubting whether it real or not though. I hope I'm wrong and it's a good Point, but it looks way to much like the typical repros from India.

bblaha, you never did answer whether it was ground on the base or not.

I understand. Things come across in print so straight forward that it is hard not to allow it to strike a nerve.

I'm waiting for photos of the base...LOL.

wow thats beautiful man, nice work, and if anybody wants to come " show me the ropes" that would be extremely appreciated, ive very new to this and like most of us obsessed, im here to learn and ask questions, just want to say thanks tnet, sorry bblaha not trying to change subject

I have seen people find points that were planted by knapper's with nothing else to do but throw their home made items in the creeks and lakes. I hope all of mine are artifacts and not just someones throw away's. I have heard there are a lot of points that dont even have names yet. I dont think every Indian made each and every point the same.

Definitely
Not a ground base, would they only have ground bases? And do people really toss stuff in creeks? That seems crazy. Iv found stuff from this area before so do you think the other 2 things I posted in the post are fake as well? I'm pretty worried about my collection now. I swear I found these.

I'm like you! Pity on the fool that has time to toss modern "artifacts" in the lake. Why? Not like they will have the pleasure of watching you find it. I really can't see many people doing that. That person, in my book, is right beside the guy that sells crack to 3rd graders. Rock, you have seen this guy? Take care of him! Brent, I would say if, and I think you did, find this in the stream, 99.99999% chance it's real. I've found questionable stuff on the river bank, but never have questioned a point. I hope you didn't fall victim to "that guy".

No I havent seen anyone throw them. I have read stories on other forums of people finding points that are proved to be modern. And I dont know what type he has but it looks good to me. I am NOT questioning his honesty on his find. I am saying it has happened to other people. The last knife I found last week looks almost perfect and is still sharp on all sides. I believe it is from the Early Archaic Period and it is in my avatar pic. So they can still be like perfect even being that old. I like his post he makes and look forward to seeing many more from him!

If it's not ground on the base then it's more then likely not a Dove. Any Dove that nice would be heavily ground. Maybe it's just your pictures, but it just doesn't look right to me. Try to get a good camera with a macro setting and take some pics in natural sunlight. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong and it's a good piece.

Thanks nc I hope it is! I'd like to find the people that throw fakes in, must be a lonely lonely person. I'll try for some better pictures. Thanks grim you are very respected by all of us and I consider you an expert not afraid to say the cold hard truth lol

Those Are dead on the one I found and the only other piece of that material is the knife I found in the same spot

It looks nothing like the lost lake point.

It looks nothing like the India fakes.

Nothing fake jumps out for me, (I'm very far from expert) looks like flint and creek worn, what looks fake ?

Does that shape have to be ground base, who makes the rules ?

If it was bought at a flea market or ehay, It very well could be a modern reproduction(and a nice one).

If I found it, I wouldn't doubt it at all.
