My dad and I are working at a house over in Mountain City, Tn and I was walking around on their property on lunch break. They had just recently plowed their garden so I thought I would walk and see if there was anything in there and right off in about a 25 foot stretch of garden I found a handful of old pottery pieces and glass. So I went back and got dad and showed him so we went up there to walk it not expecting to find anything but still figured it wouldn’t hurt. We was a little ways in and just finding the same glass and crockery and then I saw a green disc laying on the ground so I picked it up and it looked blank at first glance then I started to rub it and there it was CS. I didn’t believe it at first and handed it to dad too make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I was shocked that I was holding what I believe is a part of a 2 piece confederate belt buckle. I’m still in awe at the fact it was just sitting there on top of the dirt baking in the sun. Hopefully when he discs the garden we can get permission to metal detect before he plants(it’s too rough to swing a detector as it sits). By the end of lunch we had a small collection of all different types of glass, pottery, some flint and other odds and ends. Who knows what else might be in there. Thanks for stopping by!
