Best Detectors For Finding Rings

Depends on where you're hunting, and your tolerance for junk.

For example: on the beach, the answer some people might give, is a variety of beach pulse machines. They admittedly go deep, and will not miss even the daintiest of platinum fine/thin rings, etc.... And the same can be said of using that same beach pulse machine on land. Gauranteed, you "won't miss anything", including gold rings to great depths :tongue3: But of course, the catch is, you won't have any discrimination. You'll also get fooled by nails (especially bent ones), and so forth. This may not be a problem on wide open clean touristy beaches, but Lord help you if you're on a nail-riddled beach (like after beach storm erosion beneath a pier that's burned down multiple times overs leaving the same utterly riddled with nails). And Lord help you if you tried using that pulse machine in a junky park. But in each case, notice: It's the deepest most thorough "ring machine" (ie.: you won't miss any rings). But as you can see, in some cases a little iron disc, or selectivity (passing frequently recurring junk TID's) is in order, in some locations.

And some machines are better at low conductors, than they are at high conductors. 2 filters machines like the Silver Sabre, Whites Classics, etc.... are good at low conductors (read "gold rings"), however the "gotcha" is they don't go as deep as some of the "power house" machines do.

So you see, your question is way too loaded with an infinite curve of variables.

Minelab Excal I or II. Built like a tank, waterproof, and finds gold and silver.

Agreed. The Excal is an amazing machine!

I've found two, tiny, 10K rings with my Tesoro Sidewinder. The last one was right on the edge of my discrimination. Which is why I try to dig every signal.

Not really, I just want to hear some opinions. Seems I got several. So thank you very much! :icon_thumleft:

All detectors will find rings ....Rings are made of metal ..... And they are called metal detectors..........

I have heard the Whites Matrix M6 is supposed to be real hot for this.
Some detectors may have a better knack at it than others. Who knows?

I think the one of the biggest factors is how many rings are below your coil. :P

LOL...Bingo!!!

Ya but that XJ93050 toy, not a real metal detector.

Bit of extremes in machines there. lol

Garrett AT Pro or Teknetics G2 would be my picks!

It's not really the detector that finds the rings, It's the one holding it that makes the difference.

This!

I've only been detecting for about a year and I have about 150 rings that I found with my $250.00 Bounty Hunter Land Star. Granted only a 3 were gold and 24 were silver, but the lack of gold rings is because of the areas that I hunt regularly (tot lots, parks and hunted heavy beaches). I found a nice little gold and diamond mother and child pendant that I sold and a few other little gold charms though.

It's not that my machine can't find gold... I find gold ear rings and gold ear ring BACKS all the time.
I've found 3 gold rings so far and they both rang LOUD and solid.

I've even found a single gold link that looks like it's from a bracelet...

So as stated... You can find rings with any machine... Just learn your machine and be in the right place at the right time.

For me is at the Beach, Old n Gone, to Old and still around..wetsand to in the deep. Machine's I use, several but the best all around for this type of hunting..(not in order)..Minelabs Excalibur...CZ20/21...Minelab Sovereign...(PI machines)...Dual Field...Infinium...SeaHunter. Very Best hunting time..First Low tide after a Good Storm, then after...maybe..a few days

I too have to agree with those that say that pretty much ANY detector will find a ring....but there are not always rings to be found! I would say the biggest difference between finding a ring and NOT finding one, is based on how you have your discrimination set. I found more rings with my Whites 6000 DI Pro SL mainly because I didn't get as lazy with the discrimination like I do with my Whites Prizm 5G. If you have it set up to rule out the pull-tabs , foil, and bottle caps.....you WILL miss out on finding rings. Period. HH!

This question is not good. It should be for water or land. That would help. All detectors will find most things metal including rings. Just because you find rings with a certain detector does not mean it is a good ring detector. Why? You have to qualify your statement, did this detector find more than others hunting at the same day and time? Does this happen repeatedly? Then that detector would be better. You will find that certain detectors get reputations for certain things.

Some of these are not really the best for ring detecting unless the most critical component for choosing is the low cost. There are some great reports out there on just about every detector, including well documented depth results.

A detector may be good for one detectorist but not for another. All these recommendations are good given certain conditions and other factors.

Nice question for getting a lot of opinions but you get what you ask for.
