congrats on some great coins! sure would have been nice if the bbq was a key date!

Sure would ;D

the 1915 reminds me of my 1901 O I sold

Sweet looking coins

Great coins L4S. Those have some wonderful detail. Reminds me of the 1901 BBQ I found with GOIO at a school one day. It looked like it had been dropped the day it was minted. I wish that puppy would have had an S mint mark. It would have been worth about $30Gs. TMAN...

Very nice finds!! I do have a question. I understand that you are a believer of going "SUPER SLOW" but how do you know when to go super slow? Do you find an area that gives you a lot of noise first then SLOW DOWN or are you looking for something else? My son has got a lot of tips from you (uses and e-trac) and he has learned to go SLOW, but when to go SLOW is another skill!

Looking forward to seeing the video. You guys keep us southerners pumped up!!!

Great Point! The trick is WHEN to go slow. The E-Trac has phenomenal "see through" capabilities when hunting in either very trashy areas, or areas heavy in iron. When you hear your detector nulling out a lot, slow down enough to "hear" your detector recover by producing a threshold once again. There are many times that when your detector nulls out due to iron, and you keep swinging, you go right over a silver or other coin in its proximity before it recovers and picks up the coin.

The E-Trac LOVES silver. Even in very trashy areas, you will here many signals within a sweep, but you have to go slow enough in order the processor to filter through those signals and "sniff" out that deeper silver. These, however, are usually not clear signals, but with practice, you can make one of those signals become crystal clear. once you here a squeak, limit your swing to a couple of inches over where you heard that squeak from different directions until you lock on. I will be happy to get out with you guys next spring once the weather breaks. It's much easier to show than say in words for me. If I knew exactly how to explain this in words, I'd write a book. ;D

There are many tricks using the E/T that I haven't read anywhere, just learned by playing around with the settings and practice and experience.

Quick tip: Remember our detectors are electronically engineered to perform what they were programmed to do. The more "filters" we as users put into its running program, the more the machine has to "process" You would be quite surprised to see my set up.
I hope something out of this makes sense to you and helps you out a bit. Good luck and HH!

After listening to you and my son I do actually get some of what you are talking about. We have had a great time getting out together and hunting. I only wish we would have done this years ago. It's funny how this hobby is not about getting rich, but more about enjoying the outside and time spent with good people!

We will definately take you up on the "on hands" lessons next spring. Have a nice holiday and thanks for keeping us excited about the hobby!!

I learned from the best, my father Master Mr. Senior.....now that man can find anything and even call it before he digs it. I guess that's what 30 years experience is for. And you're absolutely right, it's not about the riches but rather the enjoyment of nature and spending it with good people. You can read a little bit about me on my blog. I started it a while back ago, but I am going to be posting daily on it starting the new year. http://www.midwestchronicles.com

Looking forward to spring.
