Hard to imagine finding 2 bone points and no flint points on a site like your Lars. but WAY TO GO!!!!!! Those are GREAT!!!!

Joel

The plow might have gotten into the top of a cache pit, that's about the only reason I see for two artifacts like that to be so close together in a field.

Joshua

Larson, I am never surprised anymore by your finds, just simply amazed. Those are great!!!d1

Dang man your killin me all over again....lol.I am gonna have to go diggin in the A.M..to finish my fix...har..Great hunt my friend....Those bone points are the stuff of dreams for me..Congrats..Neo

I have learned so much from your finds! I never knew the Indians used bone for points--I guess it would only make sense to use bone(since there was an abundance of it).
You have a wonderful site and I can't wait to log on everyday and see what you've found!
Excellent photography, Mr. Larson!! :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:

sandcreek~~

Awesome finds larson. You didn't even find a point and I think that's one of the better hunts I have seen you post. Those 2 Arrowpoints are really nice. The closest thing we have to that here is a Deer Antler Arrowpoint that will have one small "tang" or "knob" that sticks up on one side of the base end. Sometimes it will be drilled in that protrusion. I noticed the difference in the shapes when you first posted them. I'm still amazed at the amount of Bone artifacts you find. We find quite a bit here but some of your hunts produce more than we'll find in a month.

Unusual finds, are they bone spearheads? :icon_scratch:
I wonder if they are dolly pegs.. ::)

Steve you ever found any others like that?

Molly. :)

thanks SRV and Molly
what are the pieces you are talking about, SRV
what are 'dolly pegs", Molly

Those bone points look allot like harpoon heads from the Eastern Arctic Dorset culture. Those maybe the neatest bone finds I have ever seen. :icon_salut: :icon_salut:

thanks buck
i don't think they were ever used which is kinda cool in another respect

i don't know how to date them
lars
