Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Spent over 8 hours detecting on my own, but with Cru'dad supporting on the GPS.

We had to change our game plan a little, as some scumbag was on the field last night. Seeing as it was only harvested yesterday, they must have saw us & went on at night. Hopefully I will met them 1 night & I won't be inviting them around for tea >:( >:( >:(

So we hit the most productive areas first to suck up the coins before the nightdicks arrive.

Got 50 Roman Bronzes which is my best 1 day total ever! Some nice larger types including a rare French mint which only minted for 3 years (AMB).

2 Hammered - A Groat & a commonwealth halfgroat, thanks SS

I also got the best Roman Bronze Key I have found ;D

Plus a Roman dagger/sword pommel!

Dreaming about tomorrow already & I hope the night life are out as its peeing it down :D :D

Hi Crusader

Nice finds :icon_thumright:
I love the roman coins and things ;D, I have been to 3 rally's in GB, 2 times in Deal and last year to the Wantage rally... lots of bullets ... no roman. Also my 4 mates didn't find anything roman.... We had great fun and met a lot off friends ( thats were its all about) :headbang:
The part here in holland is never been occupied by the roman, so roman finds are rare.
Below the river Rijn was roman territory, roman finds can be done there....
A Dutch saying: its better to dream about it than to have it ;D

Detector greetings from Holland

Thanks.

I have no greed to have it, just record it.

Another Lot of Old Cool Relics.

I Need a Day like that !

Congrats !

Unfortunately, the widely acclaimed blinking "Congratulations!" graphic is in the shop for repairs, thanks to your relentless success. So, I'll just forego the dramatic graphics and say...

Once again, as always, well done. To me, that Roman key ranks right up there with your very best finds.

:coffee2:

Well done Cru, ever considered that its not swinging the detector head through the stubble which is tiring you out - Surely it must be all that Happy Dancing ;D

wow!! sorry i missed this post last night i had to go out :laughing7:

nice finds mate, the key is amazing! i can't believe how many roman coins your getting :o

i've got one of those pommel thing's which i found in the first woods we tried when i first got the eldorado!
someone told me it was a dagger pommel but i didn't really believe it, now i know ;D

Nice finds Cru, the Roman keys got to be the best. :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:
Had a eddie hammered and strap end yesterday, no camera, last seen with son going fishing (fear the worst). Looks like new camera time.

As for the "nightdicks" - Shoot em, Hang em - and everything else!!!

Nice finds 'Crusader' - :hello2:

Cheers everyone.

I do really like the key, its in extremely fine condition

Hi all,Nice finds CRU, We have raiders down under too, but i don,t take any notice of them and let the law and herritage offices do the their job. That they do,caught 4 at local lake last week and all were tourists from other countries.Cautioned and alllowed to leave,Soft may be but tourists both australian and from over-seas spend big money in the local town and in hard times helps big time. That includes those in treasure hunting industry.M>YOB is best and safest thing to do.Just plain common sense.HH

I guess you don't understand our Laws, but the Law will never arrest those that detect on land that they have no permission to be on. There are no Laws of Tresspass with a detector in the UK (other than Monumented Sites like Stone Henge). So we are even more relaxed about it than your country.

The farmers can do nothing! Call the Police & they are not interested, if they turn up 2 hours later & they are still their, all they can do is ask them to politely move on. Police go, they come back. Get the idea.

Quick question:

I can detect in your private back garden/yard without permission & you can ask me to leave. What do you do when I say 'No' & continue digging holes & leaving them open, plus leaving the rubbish by the side of the hole? (This question is based on you living under UK Law!)

Now, what is Plain Common Sence?
Actually Cru thats not right......there is a law that protrects land owners against unlawfull detecting, I think it was brought out in 2007, It is going equiped to steal using a metal detector :read2:

I met someone last year who had been nicked for this! He got off through lack of evidence because the police didn't search the van properly and failed to take soil samples from their boots!

This he told me was on protected land in Norfolk where they were detecting in the archies trenches at night!

Really are you sure?, I spoke with 2 Police Officers only a few months ago & they said there was nothing they could do. They just asked them to move on. Maybe they can't be bothered.

I will look into this, it could be very useful. I hope they have changed the Law, its about time.

Thats completely different (I think), there are many 'protected sites' maybe this was one. Still proves they caught him red handed & he got nothing!

That's exactly what he was charged with "going equiped to steal" and no, that had not detered him at all!

Nothing to do with it being protected or not, you can't do it without the right permission, there is no law against tresspass, but as soon as you put the spade in it's criminal damage.

Good, I may still forcing the Police to actually do something then.

I take back my quick question, in light of new information. Just goes to show, that not even the Police know the Law, or too lazy to act on it :-\
