Spent over 8 hours detecting on my own, but with Cru'dad supporting on the GPS.

We had to change our game plan a little, as some scumbag was on the field last night. Seeing as it was only harvested yesterday, they must have saw us & went on at night. Hopefully I will met them 1 night & I won't be inviting them around for tea >:( >:( >:(

So we hit the most productive areas first to suck up the coins before the nightdicks arrive.

Got 50 Roman Bronzes which is my best 1 day total ever! Some nice larger types including a rare French mint which only minted for 3 years (AMB).

2 Hammered - A Groat & a commonwealth halfgroat, thanks SS

I also got the best Roman Bronze Key I have found ;D

Plus a Roman dagger/sword pommel!

Dreaming about tomorrow already & I hope the night life are out as its peeing it down :D :D

Wow!!! What a Fantastic Day you had, Congratulations. Sure would like to come over your way sometime and dig some Roman coins.

HH, Ringfinder

Very well, gather the experience of two people and a country rich in history.
Congratulations!

Thanks guys, I basically got a months total in 1 day. Hard one to match, but I'll try my best. However, can't do too much tomorrow, as the effort of pushing the head throw fresh stubble is a hard workout :P

That's quite a haul of coins and relics :icon_thumright: I know you're on track to set a new best of hammered this year, but it also looks like you're well on you way with the Roman coins :notworthy: The key is just awesome :icon_king:

Hope Cru Dad brings a camera for tomorrow's hunt. Just in case you manage to run upon the scumbags ;D

Trust me, my spade is like a third arm & I know how to use it :laughing7:

I had a great feeling about this field. I knew it would pan out. Congrats on a great hunt.

You call them scumbags, I call them poachers. That's against the law around here. A person can get shot poaching around here. Of coarse I would use bird shot just to teach them a lesson. ::)

Looking for that banner find tomorrow.

Good Luck
Randy

PS-When will this be a first favorite field?

I have a friend who shots this land at night for rabbits/fox. Maybe he will mistake an eye shine

We have had nearly 150 roman coins already but we would need 10 times that, & many more hammered to become our top field. However, it is our Fav Field at this moment in time. I have a couple more lined up which might compete in a few weeks :icon_thumright:

Good to see you finding land this time of the year. We, (on this side of the pond), enjoy seeing your finds almost as much as metal detecting. Good luck.

Not in here, and shooter may lost his guns and end up in jail here in Scandinavia. Wow thats lots of Roman coins :), congrats! Only few Romans found in Finland :-\.

Its so cool to me to see all the diffrent things you guys always find. The sheer volume of this hunt is amazing.Look forward to reading your post every time. How exciting to be able to dig so far back in time with a metal detector. The only way we can ever come close is with our stone age tools and our eyes. Simply amazing finds and hunt. You take your life into your hands around here when you poach. Wonder if you could post the land as No Trespassing as we do here ? Good luck and enjoyed seeing your finds.

Hi all,Nice finds CRU, We have raiders down under too, but i don,t take any notice of them and let the law and herritage offices do the their job. That they do,caught 4 at local lake last week and all were tourists from other countries.Cautioned and alllowed to leave,Soft may be but tourists both australian and from over-seas spend big money in the local town and in hard times helps big time. That includes those in treasure hunting industry.M>YOB is best and safest thing to do.Just plain common sense.HH

Your postings have become a substitute for slowly pulling out eyelash hairs, it's just pure masochism whenever I view your posts. I don't dig 50 crappy zinc pennies at an outing. Amazing, just simply amazing. I will raise a glass of Guinness towards Merry Old, tomorrow at the bar.
Carl
Which way is that from Colorado?

You keep topping your latest post. It's amazing to say the least!!! Thanks for sharing your awesome finds. Good luck on your next trip.

Yeah, we knew it was likely. Thats why we managed to do all the trenches before their activity & get on straight after harvest. Its not a greed thing that annoys me, I'm happy to share with those that are respectful. Its the lost of data to a virgin site. Dad & I had a 'golden' chance to plot a site which hasn't been touched since the days it was lost. This information would have been invaluable. Oh well, we will keep playing the game & win.

I guess you don't understand our Laws, but the Law will never arrest those that detect on land that they have no permission to be on. There are no Laws of Tresspass with a detector in the UK (other than Monumented Sites like Stone Henge). So we are even more relaxed about it than your country.

The farmers can do nothing! Call the Police & they are not interested, if they turn up 2 hours later & they are still their, all they can do is ask them to politely move on. Police go, they come back. Get the idea.

Quick question:

I can detect in your private back garden/yard without permission & you can ask me to leave. What do you do when I say 'No' & continue digging holes & leaving them open, plus leaving the rubbish by the side of the hole? (This question is based on you living under UK Law!)

Now, what is Plain Common Sence?
