Hey. First post here so excuse me if I mess up. Found this in a vacant lot in an old 1800's neighborhood. It was about 5 or 6 inches deep, or somewhere around there. Pretty deep for my BH tracker 4. I'm thinkin it's a small belt buckle. The guys at TreasureBoards say it dates to the 20's-30's. Are they right? If it's old, it's my first relic.?

Any info would be appreciated.

1/2 of a belt buckle,

I'd go back, and search for the rest of it!

Cool find,

I believe that what you have there is a satchel buckle. That is the entire buckle. I have the satchel and all around here somewhere, but can't seem to find it. Anyway those were in use from about 1900 until.... well I think we still had some map satchels around when I was in the Marines in the 90's.

I drew a quick pic of how it was put on the belt or strap or whatever.

The tip end is self explainatory, the other end was put in as the arrow shows, but if it was a belt, it didn't have to be sewn down. This would allow for length adjustment. If it was on a satchel or bag then it would be sewn just behind the buckle.

Either way... GREAT FIND. :D :D :D
