I thought the item in the center right was a bell until I cleaned the top and could make out the word extra. I found near the VA cuff button and coins yesterday. The question is what time period is this button from.

It could be as early as 1830s or so

That is known as a ball button, Zoauve button, or cadet button. They have been used from early 19th century to present. West Point cadets still wear them on their uniforms. Based on the patina and proximity to the Virginia cuff, I would say yours is very old.

I have one dug in Surry County, VA. The back mark on mine indicated it was likely from a early Civil War Virginia Artillery officers coat.
