beginners luck. First finds of '07 Two 14k rings!
Started out a great year.
78 degrees, overcast. beautiful day all around.
Went to the beach, and was amazed as soon as I walked on. There was a large area where the dry sand had been undercut by the outgoing tide, leaving it spilled down towards the low tide. I spent 5 hours on that single 100 x 200 area of beach today, and it payed off. I also learned sooo much about how the detector responds, and how the tide interacts with items. there were definite zones of dimes and pennies. just unreal. the pennies made it the furthest from the spill. somehow, I thought it would have been the dimes.
Whoever said the Excal growls when you hit gold is so right. it was a great sound to hear.
The ring on the left is white gold, and inscribed circle of love. I gave that one to my 7 yr old daughter and she was so thrilled!
The other is 14K yellow gold, with 3 nice sized diamonds. I don't own a diamond tester, so can't swear they are real just yet..If they are, it just paid for my Excalibur, which worked perfectly today. I tried to give it to my wife, but she turned her nose up at it, lol. She specified diamond tennis bracelet or pendant. I asked her if I should find her the matching earrings to go with, lol. I can understand not wanting to wear a second wedding band, of course. She already has a nice one, so no need to downgrade.
The other diamonds there are costume jewelry. Still, what a great day.
I took my Nikon D70, but decided to not take it out of the case. I'm going to by another point and shoot, and get a waterproof case for it. That way I can take pics for the 2007 picture contest
