I love brats! Never simmered them in beer though.
 

Gotta try it Rat, makes the skin a little softer and easier to chew. Kinda hated going through 4 beers before gametime though. :)
If you google "beer simmered brats" you'll see a wide variety of how to do it.

Simmered some brats in beer for a couple hours before grilling them. Also made some homemade brat buns because I hate putting brats in those tiny hotdog buns from the store. It was to no avail though, the Packers still lost. :( Oh well, next year!!
If you look close, on the lower shelf, you'll see a cinnamon roll I made with the extra dough. :)
