I went out yesterday to I spot I've gone over a lot in the past. It's nice out now with wet soil and grass knocked down. I dug this beer filler, or beer line cleaner piece from over a foot down. When you Google this gentleman from Denver, 2 patents come up. One for a faucet for filling beer in 1895 and one for a beer line cleaner in 1897. I don't know which one this is but I will go with filler because it sounds cooler! I love old printing plates, and have found quite a few interesting ones. I haven't quite read this one yet. Maybe someone could flip the picture of the words on it. The tokens sure would have been nice if in good condition. One is a Mettinger from Goldfield Colorado, and the other one says old whiskey at the bottom. I checked for a similar one in the local towns with no luck. I don't know much about old military buttons, but this one seems older. My sites only go back to the 1890's. Happy Hunting!!! Thanks Trezurehunter! That button has good detail but a little smashed. The back iIMG_20200416_093403465~2.jpgs crusty, but maybe I can clean it. I found this clip also. Maybe for an undergarment?

In keeping with your theme of beer, cigarettes & whiskey, maybe tobacco fits in there someplace. I flipped the wording at his feet and flipped the whole plate. Obviously, the man is smoking a pipe, and it looks like he is holding a jar or can of something with both of his hands. Can't make out the first word below his shoes, but the second word looks like "Brand". Also, it looks like there are two words on the jar or can he is holding. (one word on top of the other) Maybe it's an advertiser's printing plate for newspaper or poster ads of an old tobacco brand. Just a guess.Very cool looking printing plate. Reminds me of the old long-coats from the western movies & TV shows. CHEERS !! J.T.G. (see attachments)

The old printing plate and the bar tokens are great finds.
If these were my finds, I'd clean up the plate and tumble the aluminum tokens.

Is the back of the printing plate lead?
Dave

Hey cool finds.

Your avatar caught my eye... many years ago I found a very similar item... it was a pendant... silver... size of a half dollar... had a magnet imbedded in it.

I did some homework on it ... as much as possible at the time... I had this weird idea that it was actually a magnet key... used to access something.

Tell me... what do you know ?

Thanks RJ! It's always nice to beeper hunting! Thanks
Dave , I have some very interesting ones over the years. I did a little printmaking in College and have a press. They will look nice in frame with the print. I am getting ready to tumble some brass!!! It is made of lead with copper soldiered on I believe.
Thanks for the response Jose and the picture flip. I scrubbed the first word up some more and it says Society Brand, pretty interesting because nothing for me comes up on Google.
Hi AARC, I can't find the thread but someone said it was a cival war medallion maker. J H Diehl, PA. I have found another one that is empty in the middle and have wondered if he moved to my town. Sure makes it interesting! That sounds like a great item of yours!!!

Making a copy from the plate and then framing it along with the plate is a great idea!
I'd also be interested to know what the history is of the plate and the company that it was made for.

Dave

Thanks Dave, maybe I will post them on what's it. I don't know how you can research these but they would know.
Thanks for the post Washingtonian. I sure am impressed at all the silver you find. I sure am going to restore the beer faucet a little. It should clean up nice and I will figure out how that sucker worked. I forgot to post an old rusty miners candle holder I found. Hopefully we all will find something good soon.

Great hunt !!! Congrats !!! love that button !!! To bad on the tokes ! . The printing plate is Fantastic , I have a printing block from the May Co on Bennett ave and I have a 1902 Cripple Creek Times that has the ad it printed ! I will search through all my old Creek & Victor newspapers this weekend and see if I can find an ad from your plate.

Thanks Charlie, I never have the time to look through the ones at the local library. Thanks for sending me the picture of the stuff you found it gave me some inspiration to get out!! That a pretty historical print you have!!
