Well, that’s about as good a seal matrix as one could hope for, stunning really. I agree with the others that this should be banner bound.
Thanks…it’s definitely one the best things I’ve ever had the luck to find. Hopefully, the TNET community can help me zero in on the type of ship. So far, the historical ship experts are conflicted. Unfortunately, the body of the ship is less detailed than the rigging.

Another surprise and something I’ve always wanted to find. Now the question is….should I try it with modern sealing wax? Most of the early settlers on this piece of ground arrived from Barbados after that island was overrun.
Is there any way to trace these or date them?
So damn cool

Well then... i just revisited... in the morning i will ID it for you.
I would do it now... but Rum awaits.

Ok ok... before i go... on first thoughts on your piece i thought "Caravel"...
I am thinking along the lines of an exaggerated Caravel Rotunda type of ship.

These ships were around in ehhhhhhhhhhhh late 1400's if memrory serves me.

Now....... off to that Rum i spoke of.

Ok ok.... its a Stella.

AMAZING FIND :)

I'm wondering about the use of the seal. There does not seem to be any identifying information on it, just an image of a ship. Or am I missing something?

Not that unusual to just have pictures & no words on Seal that were used by merchants etc..
