It was a whopping 20 degrees this morning and I just had to satisfy my craving. :laughing7: I woke up at 3:10 and headed to my brother's for coffee. ;D We then had a staff meeting at the Pits at 7. Digging at 10. ;D

Zeus and I went out to search for relics that were lost centuries ago. :hello2: We decided to head to the site where I found my Colonial copper pipe last Fall. Zeus found a cuff tombac button and some musketballs. I dug a bunch of musketballs and a beautiful 1816 Coronet large cent that was cut to make small change....a half cent. ;D I also found a bunch of Colonial pottery out the ying yang. :laughing7:

It was another fun day in the Colonial fields with my uncle Zeus. We are looking forward to 2012. :coffee2:

Keep the passion high!

Kirk :hello:

Love the oldies! :headbang:

Kirk, Half a cent is better than no cents, bummer though, such nice detail ! God Bless HH Chris

Beautiful half cent :laughing9:

That field even looks old. I'm glad you keep the pottery shards too!

. . . the other half has to be out there . . . most likely a plow hit . . . nice digs.

Looks like you got the biggest half, closer to .625 cents.

Love to find a cut coin.

Similar weather here today, maybe a tad warmer, but with the wind chill I whimped out.

Nice Coronet "Half" Cent Kirk :icon_thumright:
I Love Clipped coins.
the History why it was Clipped
Increases their Personal Value IMO

20 degrees I was Huddling here at the Computer
trying to stay warm :laughing7:

Congrats !

Jeff

Nice job, Kirk. :icon_thumright:

Was out digging for an hour this evening.... as I was finishing up I noticed the top 1/2" of dirt was starting to freeze... :BangHead: Our days of hunting here in PA may just be coming to a sudden stop for a while. I Hope to be wrong on that one!

That's a nice find!

Seems like alot of work to chop a solid copper coin in half?
I wonder what they used. :dontknow:

My Guess Hammer, Anvil, & Chisel.

Every Blacksmith had them.

And Probably Chopped in advance for Such occasions

1816 Half Cent. Now that would be rare. ;D

At least ya got the half with the date. :D

Isn't that more like a 1/4 cent? :laughing7:

Nice!

I got out yesterday here and dug some CW junk. ;D

Cheers,

Buck
