I got out with my new friend yesterday to St Augustine Beach. I let her use my MXT and I used the TDI. I was surprised how well the MXT performed in the high salt conditions in and out of the water and in wet or dry sand. I had her set it to salt and she ran in Relic mode. She was able to discriminate most iron with it. I dug up a ton of iron with the TDI in All mode and found only 7 cents in a terrible storm with seas running 8 to 10 feet. She beat me with the MXT and got 62 cents as a first time detectorist. That MXT is a very versatile machine. I also want to mention how smooth the threshold of the TDI was when wearing no eyelets on my shoes. I used my wet suit booties with plastic zippers. In the future, I will get shoes without metal in them. I am sure you too will be surprised how smooth the threshold of the TDI is without metal in ones shoes. The lateral signal is quite far reaching and any metal in one,s shoes will be picked up by a TDI.

New detectorist always have beginners luck it seems. Glad the TDI ran smooth for you. Not all beaches are the same as to salt and black sand but many think they are all the same. :coffee2:
