I hit the "Tacky Turtle" access at Indian Rocks Beach yesterday and worked to the South along a really nice cut (in some places 18" to 20"). Lots of trash (I worked 4 accesses South) and one area obviously "salted" with 3" pieces of wire (what kind of an idiot salts a beach with something that can end up in someones foot or hand if they are playing in the sand) directly in front of a Condo. Anyway, I haven't worked that stretch before and wanted to take a look. The finds were meager (except for the trash) but one is interesting. WHAT IS IT? It actually looks more like a melted rock. It's black with streaks of brown running through it. It gave a really solid signal and was deep (about 8" deeper then the cut). I touched a weak magnet to it and it is attracted to it (barely) but does not seem to be magnetic itself. Any help Id'ing it would be appreciated.
