I posted in the wrong section before, think I should have posted here to start. I found this along the shore on Lake Erie, just west of Erie, PA. It was after a fall storm. It measures 5.25" x 3.5", think its made out of copper. Also the letter on the side, not sure if its an o or a q.

I've searched CW Germ on the net with not luck. At the end of the CWGerm, there looks to be an "o" or a "q". I put a pic of it up. I've looked up boat wrecks in the Lake, no luck. But was also thinking I may not have the resources one might that is on here. I've emailed local colleges and some groups that search boat wrecks in Lake Erie also, no luck.

Do you think the o/a/q is part of the name?

Very unusual logo. Is that silk screened or embossed? Are those bats or eagles?

It is for sure connected, I can see where the cursive m is connected to it. I don't think it's an "a", I think it's a "q". I don't think it is an "e" either cause the tail dips below the rest of the letters.

I was also thinking that the center thing is a family crest. I did research on that, but to no avail.

I'll have to ask my coworker again tomorrow, but it sounded like neither. She explained that a wax was laid down on the main piece in the design they wanted. Then they used another metal with a different melting point. Think it's called Lost Wax Casting.

Lol you ask bat or eagles, I was thinking angels or eagles.

Tell me about it, it's driving me nuts. Thinking it is a log cover, something off a boat, some sort of book cover from a personal journal or a cover to some equipment. The imagination runs wild lol

I am fairly certain it is a note book or address book cover for a Mr or Mrs C W Germ. There is a small possibility it is from a cigarette case but I am thinking note book is most likely.

CW Germ really seems to have the "o" or "q" attached to it. Also I think it would hinge wrong if it was a cover, unless its the back half?
