Here is a weird one just found under the beach sands at Isle of Palms, SC.
The back is encrusted with shells, sand, and such. Not much to see there.
The bullet is brass and the bird head is iron-like.
Like most beaches around here, the sand is pumped in from shoals (sometimes miles out), so I have found live-ish 50 cal shells, bullets, etc.
Any help with this is appreciated.

The beaches and offshore from North Myrtle down were used as practice areas for the Air Corps in the 30's/40's. In the 70's we found buckets of bullets cases and clips. Your bird head is just crust.

Also the Army Air Corps also flew specially equipped B-24s in anti submarine patrols in that area.

Thanks for the inputs. I have found a lot of military stuff around here.
The formation is definitely encrusted, especially on the back.
However, the eye, pupil, and eye brow seem to defy randomness of encrustation.
I may be seeing "the face of Mary in a cracker", so I will look more closely.
Perhaps I will post some additional pictures.

Why remove it? You know that what's on the inside is common, what's on the outside is unique. Maybe find a way to stabilize it!
