Batwing Carbine Sling Tip & Eagle "C" button from Dec. Arkansas Hunt Restored
During our early December Arkansas relic hunting trip with John Freeman & John Jr., Doug recovered his first brass batwing carbine sling tip that was bent. During the same hunt, I dug a coat size Cavalry Officer’s eagle “C” button with gold gilt remaining that was also bent and it was the second U.S. Cavalry Officer’s button I dug in late 2012. Since these relics were dug in Arkansas, we mailed them to Robert McDaniel in Alabama for professional straightening. He also put a replacement back with the same appropriate Scovill back mark with shank on the button back. Note the gold gilt remaining below the eagle. The cost was minimal and we were very pleased with the result as we have been with all of Robert’s restorations. HH, Doug & Quindy.
