Found this yesterday hunting in Selma, AL. I don't know much about Civil War artifacts and would appreciate any information. It was around 6 to 7 inches in the ground. The 3 ringer bullet was found about 10 yards from the buckle.

Does anyone know an approximate value?

Thanks for any information.

Nate

Awsome find!

I was very surprised when I pulled it from the hole! I'm a coin hunter so I normally wouldn't dig these type of targets. It will look nice in my display case.
Now that is a surprise of what a little out of the box recovery will make, congrats!
Now what made you dig this signal up anyways?

I think the only reason I dug the signal was because there were very few other coin signals in the area. I knew it wasn't a coin. It was a banging high tone and I knew it was too large a target for a coin. Just decided to dig it. I hope to back to the area because I think I passed over another similar signal.

That's what makes this passion so interesting is finding history where one doesn't even think could be there.
Though in your case not go to signal recovery, but a lack of signals recovery.
Best of luck on the next return to the site, there might be other amazing recoveries as this.
