Found this buckle today. Cleaned it when I got home. Realized it was a buckle when I found it but couldn't tell much more. I was hopeful it was some kind of military buckle but it's clear it is not! Of course, I can tell you what it is but what I can't tell you is any history of the buckle because I can't find anything on the web. Can someone out there give me a hand???? Thanks.

CW, thank you for the information. The manufacturing date is 1874 based on the info provided.

Correct regarding the wording "Base Ball". Did a lot of reading before I really cleaned that lite spot on the buckle. Learned a few things about the origins. Got to love this hobby. Research is the best.

Thank you very much for your assistance. Both welcome and appreciated.

Hey that's a nice one!

I have an extensive Victorian buckle collection (all dug) and many with sporting themes but I only have one base ball buckle.

I've been researching these type of buckles for years and rarely see anything related to baseball. WTG!

Cheers,
Dave.

I like your buckle as well. Interesting to note the relative scarcity of these types of buckles. I am hoping I get to sit with the experts from the Hall of Fame to discuss what they may have in their collection. Would be nice to think this buckle could fill a gap they may have rather than add to some they already do have. And displaying it is the chief hope. We shall see!
